Valetta VW861

The aircraft was undertaking a supply drop and approached the dropping zone both low and slow with both engines throttled back. After dropping one pack the aircraft began a starboard turn but the port wing struck a tree and the aircraft cartwheeled into a gully.

In 2019, the aircraft's wreck was found on the mountain slope approximately 5km from Kampung Raja-Dabong main road. Most of the plane sections were missing while remnants of the cockpit, tailwheel, part of the wing section, and one propeller cowling were lying undisturbed nearby.
